Rebecca has worked as a freelance editor for three years. Her research, writing and editing skills have been developed through two bachelor’s degrees, one master’s degree, and in previous roles as a writer, teacher and university administrator. Rebecca is an intuitive, careful and thorough editor. She has edited works of fiction, non-fiction, children’s literature, sci fi, fantasy and memoir. As a writer, Rebecca aims for clarity and flow. She has written global education resources, grant proposals, training manuals, web copy and human interest stories. When working with authors, Rebecca’s comments are warm and encouraging. She strives to provide a rigorous copy edit and an affirming and constructive content edit. As the parent of two young boys, Rebecca has a particular love for children’s literature. She is drawn to children’s books that spark the imagination and teach life lessons in simple yet profound ways. Rebecca loves stories and believes they have the power to open hearts and minds. One of her most meaningful projects has been to help her dad write, edit and publish his memoirs. Through this experience, she has come to appreciate the power of a story to entertain and enlighten, the therapeutic value of memoir writing, and the importance of maintaining the author’s voice in the editing process.
